Business Travel to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia: Advice Please = )?

I have a 20 hour flight to Malaysia (with a brief layover in Beijing) in one week. Any recommendations on how to balance taking sleeping pills, watching movies, reading books, and otherwise keeping sane to make it through such a long flight? I’m flying coach on Malaysia Airlines. Do they have outlet ports to plug in my laptop?

Additionally, I’ve never been to Malaysia before, and reading weather reports only provides so much info. Any recommendations on dress?

Lastly, any other pointers to help me best prepare for this trip?

Would you bring nicer clothing when travelling? ?

Hi, I would be traveling from France to Eastern Europe and will be visiting most countries in Eastern and Central Europe (with the exception of Belarus, Romania, Bulgaria, the Caucasus, and Macedonia) for the entirety of summer, after which I will be taking the TS from Moscow to Beijing. I’ll probably be staying at hostels and mostly travel by interrail. I have never been to Eastern Europe, so I was wondering how practical would it be to bring a few nice items of clothing (i.e. dress shirts, a suit blazer, etc,) instead of wearing tshirts and hoodies all the time like when I traveled in college. I would like to have a look at some nicer bars too.

I’d also like to bring my camera and ipod,

Also, would carrying a leather duffle bag instead of a bag pack seem like a good idea?

Any help , tips, advice, or opinion?

It’s the first time I’m going to China, the first time I’m travelling alone (I’m a girl), and the first time I’m going to stay in youth hostels - I would really like to know whether they are safe so my belongings don’t get stolen! I’ve been looking at a couple of dormitories in:

- Beijing City Central International Hostel
- Wangfujing International Youth Hostel
- PekingUni International Hostel
- Jade International Youth Hostel

The main point is safety, low cost and central location, not to mention cleanliness!

For part of my trip I have to stay very close to Peking University so I would like to hear any suggestions of where to stay too.

I would appreciate any advice.
Thanks

How do I arrange / coordinate my vacation with 10 different destinations in multiple countries?

Origin: Honolulu, Hawaii
Destinations: (In no particular order) Florida (Disney World), New York (Empire State Bldg), Egypt (Pyramids), Thailand (Bangkok), Philippines (Manila), Taiwan (Taichung / Taipei), Hong Kong, Beijing, South Korea, and Japan (Hokkaido only).
Then of course back to Honolulu, Hawaii.

Is the only option is to go thru a travel agent? Approx how much would this cost (Airfare only or a combination of Air & Hotel)?

This will probably be my last vacation…
Appreciate your help. Experiences, advice, & concerns are welcomed.

Thank you in advance.

In September, I have to board an airplane from Beijing, China to San Francisco to Los Angelos.

During the flight to Los Angelos, my parents can’t be with me because they have a meeting there.

By myself, I have to bring my little sister to find the airplane travelling from San Francisco to LA.

I’m only 10 years old, and I get lost very, very easily, and I’m scared that I’ll miss the flight or get lost in the airport.

Any advice :(?

WHat are my chances of transferring to a good business school in the U.S.; or the University of Florida?

Gracie/Student87 asked:

Hello. I am a current college student in a Florida community college. I am getting ready to finish up my A.A. degree and I am wondering what my chances are of getting into a good business school in the U.S. I have realized that in the business world the better the college you go to the better the job prospects are for you in the future (in most cases). Here is a little bit about myself to give you an idea how to answer my question. I thank everyone who gives a mature answer :)
My GPA is 3.3 (i know kinda low) but should be 3.4 my graduation.
I am a member of my schools Phi Theta Kappa honors society.
I train in mixed martial arts which is my passion; it is something I have been doing consistently since I was in the 8th grade. I know I am not really a member of many clubs in my school and that is due to the amount of time I dedicate to this sport. Where I am going with this is do college admissions look at this favorably, the time a dedication that you dedicate to something should mean something to them.
A few other factors about myself personally are; that I am hispanic and I am an epileptic, anyone that has to say anything about my epilepsy and competing in mixed martial arts can keep their comments to their selves. I mainly train in Brazilian Ju Jitsu and Olympic style Wrestling so I am not constantly getting my head pounded. I was diagnosed with epilepsy my senior year of high school and it has been hard for me not to train in the martial arts so I just dedicated myself to the style that involves the least amount of head contact. Lol ok enough of that I seem to be rambling on here. I hope you have been able to see some of who I am and can give me educated advice on what I should do. Also what colleges I can look to get into. Also some college’s I would like to get into are………….
University of Florida***
University of Miami***
Arizona State University***
UCLA***
USC***
University of Texas at Austin***
University of Arizona***
University of Michigan***
UNC at Chapel Hill
Penn State
Boston University
University of Maryland
University of Richmond
UC Berkley
USD***
Florida International University***
Rollins College

I put a few colleges up that I probably don’t have any shot at but if anyone knows of anything I could do to beef up my resume to get into something close then I’m all ears!:) Also another important fact lol my major would be in Finance, International Finance, or International Business. My preprofessional GPA so far is 3.5 after this semester should be 3.7.

Also I have 3 W’s on my transcript.:\
Another thing would one of those college admission coaches help? I heard of some stories of people with good activities and community service getting accepted into top schools despite the fact that they had a lower GPA.
Another thing, would a study abroad business program look good for these schools, I was looking at the Global Semesters Abroad Business Program, London, Paris, New Delhi, Bangalore, Shanghai, Beijing, and Hong Kong. The program is unique because it travels to all these countries while you study international business material for college credit.
In case you all haven’t realized I would like to have a career in international business.
Thank you again to anyone who gives me some good answers here :)

Backpacking in Asia. Is this do-able? Tips?

Hi. I’m planning on backpacking around Asia for about 3 months or 4 months. For now, I’ve very roughly planned out what I want to do. But I just want some advice from experienced backpackers out there.

I’m from Australia. So I’m flying first to Singapore. From there:

Malaysia (KL), Thailand, Laos then Hanoi. From Hanoi I was planning on catching a train to Beijing. Then travel down to Hong Kong. From Hong Kong, fly to Cambodia. Then fly back to Singapore. Then fly back to Darwin, Australia where i’ll catch the Ghan train to Adeliade. Then go home…

How much do you think the whole trip will cost me? Any tips, advice and suggestions will be most welcome.

Thank you!

Advice Getting into Wharton UPENN?

April 19th, 2009

aa h asked:

Hi, I am a high school student and I was wondering if any of you could help me in perfecting my resume or provide me with any advice to get into college. With that being said ….

I go to school at University High School in Irvine California, one of the top-ranked public high schools in California. Aside from being academically vigorous and challenging, it is also home of possibly 2000 Asian Americans. All of whom possess similar characteristics; musical instrument, solid grades, good SAT /AP scores, athletic sort(s), and community service hours here and there. I was wondering if you had an advice on how I would be able to stand out amongst thousands of clones.

Now a little about myself. I am Taiwanese, as well as 1/16th Hispanic. Weird, yes, i know. To be honest, I am nothing close to a stellar student. I have poor grades, a 3.49 weighted GPA through my freshman and sophomore years. This year, my junior year, I am currently juggling a 4.0 weighted GPA. Last year, I took the AP Exam for US History and received a 5, but scored a low 680 on my SAT2s. I’ve taken the SAT2 for Chinese and Math Level 2, and received 800s on both. I’ve also scored a 2300 on my SAT 1. However, in my first semester of sophomore year I received 2 C’s (one in APUSH and another in Algebra 2). I managed to raise my APUSH grade to an A- the following semester, and my math grade to a B.

Here are some of the school activities that I am involved in. I have been part of Student Council for 3 years. I am the Club President of Fiddle For Fun. Fiddle For Fun is an organization that I started this year that provides free tutoring opportunities at local elementary schools. It also helps fund raise with the principals of these schools in raising money to buy school supplies. (I’ve organized a jog-a-thon, a mini marathon where students gather pledges on the # of laps they run and all donations benefit the school). I am also the a board member of Model United Nations, Mock Trial, as well as the VP of Kiwins and Save Darfur! I’ve been part of the school orchestra since freshman year, and played basketball and wrestling for the school team. I am also a writer for our school newspaper and magazine.

Here are some of things I participate outside of school. As I stated above, I am part of the school orchestra. I play the viola. Since freshman year, I have participated in the All-State Orchestra, All-Southern Orchestra, as well as the All-National Orchestra. This summer I had the amazing opportunity of being invited by IYCA (a local orchestra) to play in the Summer Beijing Olympics. I toured Seoul, Korea as well as Beijing, China playing my viola at various locations, including the Great Wall of China and at the Opening Ceremony. The summer of my freshman year, I spent a few weeks in Taiwan teaching English to its native speakers. I traveled to Mexico as well as Ecuador to help build homes either as part of missions or leadership programs. I will be going to India this winter break for a week apart of IYCA to spread musical awareness to the less fortunate and teach natives the basic fundamentals in learning how to read as well play a musical instrument. Along with IYCA, I have helped raised thousands of dollars to purchase violins that will be given to natives in India who possess a keen interest in learning the art of music. I also published 2 short children books, in Mandarin and English. I am a member of T.I.P, an organization that provides emotional support to victims who have experienced a life changing tragedy, such as a car crash. I’ve interned for a district attorney, and am currently interning at a sports agency company. Lastly, I attend church every week, and am part of my church choir as well as its monthly visits to a nursery home.

That being said, I need your help. I am not in my top percent of my class, and do not have impressive grades. I would like to pursue a career in business management. I want to be able to go to a top-notch school, such as UPENN even if its just for undergrad. It would be nice to make my parents proud. If you had any advice, please, please let me know! Thank you!
