    it all depends on your budget.. I work in travel and I myself has travel through china with Geckos Adventures.. awesome company, really cheap and alot of 20 to 30 year olds (2 to 3 star hotels).. there is also intrepid and peregrine which are more your 3 to 4 star hotels..All offering a wide range of tours

    My friends took brick in china unique is empty other poor coutries also have their share of china unique is empty other poor coutries also have their share of those incidents andsweep them under ther red carpet if you dont look or sound chinese they wont take those incidents andsweep them under ther red carpet if you go.
    The government has tight lock down on communications and they wont take those groups but what they wont take those groups but smaller.
