Tourists normally get trapped into handing their money over because they look rich. If you don’t wanna get trapped doing this, I would look as poor and authentic as possible.

Do not give money to the “homeless kids”. Most likely, they’re working for a “boss” that takes all the money that they collect.
If you are offered “cheap” or “great” deals on the street, just turn away. Don’t even pretend to be interested. It’s probably a scam.
If anybody offers to take you somewhere, don’t follow.
RULE OF THUMB: if something seems too good to be true, then it probably is
